SBACNJ Recognized by Industry Group for Community Outreach Efforts

Shore Builders Officers

Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey (SBACNJ) has been honored by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) and New Jersey Business Magazine as a 2022 Awards for Excellence Recipient. SBACNJ was named one of four winning organizations in the category of Community Service for the Association’s long-time support of various community organizations, such as Collier Youth Services, United Way of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, and for support of students in various school districts including the Ocean County Technical & Vocational School. SBACNJ stands for quality, integrity, and responsibility, serving Monmouth, Middlesex, Mercer, and Ocean counties. Collaboration and innovation are at the forefront of the Association, allowing its members to make advancements together in today’s ever-changing landscape.

According to SBACNJ President, James Pittenger, “SBACNJ’s Professional Women in Building of the Garden State (PWBGS) have spearheaded most of our outreach efforts for various community groups, particularly the Collier Youth Services group home in Red Bank. In addition, our builder and associate members have donated time, labor, and materials to renovate the bathroom in the group home in Red Bank. The true honor is the knowledge that youngsters, and especially young women, who would otherwise not have the opportunity, are thriving and have promising futures because of the programs and support provided by Collier Youth Services.”

SBACNJ’s Young Professionals Committee has focused their efforts on working with local schools, including vocational schools, to provide mentoring and scholarships geared toward education and career opportunities in the building industry. Pittenger continues, “We would like to thank NJBIA and NJBM for this recognition, as well as our members and sponsors who were instrumental in helping us achieve this honor.”

With the holidays approaching, the focus of the PWBGS is to promote its “Cash for Collier” donation drive, which provides a cash donation to the Collier Youth Group Home for purchase of holiday gifts for the residents. The money collected goes a long way in bringing holiday cheer to the girls who may otherwise not experience the spirit of the holidays. Gina McNamara, Executive Officer of SBACNJ notes, “The holiday donation drive for Collier Youth Group home residents started in the summer, and we have had several Association events where we promoted this initiative. Our members have always answered the call to generously donate to this fund. It is truly an Association -wide effort and we appreciate our members’ participation each year. While it is wonderful to be recognized for our community outreach efforts, our PWBGS, Young Professionals, and the Association as a whole feel strongly about giving back to the communities we serve, and the organizations we partner with are deserving of these efforts for the work they do throughout the counties we serve.”
